DEAR CHURCH FAMILY
I believe, as I hope you do, that the ministries of our church are a blessing to both our church body and families outside our congregation. Whether it is one of our youth or children getting baptized, a broken life finding healing, or a water well in a foreign country bringing people clean drinking water, the ministries of Southland are making a difference for the kingdom of God.
Last Fall we celebrated our 40th birthday at Southland. It was a time of grand celebration of what God had done in the past, but I also sensed there was great anticipation of what God was going to do in Southland’s future. Before I even arrived last April, the Spirit was stirring in this place to update our facilities so we could fulfill our mission of transforming people in God’s Grace, nurturing in Christ’s love, and sending people out in the Spirit’s Power. On February 10, our church voted to enter into a capital campaign project and follow the stirrings of God’s Spirit.
“The Journey Continues” is the name chosen for our stewardship campaign. We believe that with God’s guidance, this ministry will fulfill the financial needs of our church. As part of “The Journey Continues” program, every household is asked to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial commitment—over and above your ongoing tithes and offerings—to be given over the next three years. We hope to raise the necessary funds in order to move forward in our ministry. As you can see, “The Journey Continues” is an important step to our future, and your involvement impacts it’s success.
These are exciting days of decision in our church. Let us commit, seek, and act in God’s will. I want to leave you with the theme verse of the campaign. It is not only the theme verse, but it is Southland’s desire: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen
